Liberia's primary sector, including agriculture, fisheries, forestry, mining, and gold panning, accounts for over 50% and provides employment for 60% of Liberia's active population. It contributed 31% to Liberia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2020.
Liberia's Minister of Agriculture told Fu Chujian, Chairman of Italy Winningstar Group, "The main cash crops in Liberia's agriculture are cassava, oil palm, rubber, rice and cocoa, but constrained by technical conditions, arable land resources and other constraints, Liberia's agriculture, animal husbandry, and fisheries lack high-quality inputs, and the support and facilitation of the circulation of agricultural products, livestock products, and fisheries products Infrastructure is also progressing slowly."
